A live costume exhibition, Basement Bar at Seamstress 2010

A live costume exhibition exploring the possibility of embodied costume, produced as part of JUMP Mentoring as supported by The Australia Council for the Arts. The live exhibition displayed three characters inspired by Tarjei Vesaas’ novel The House in the Dark.

The costumes were designed to inspire movement, and in turn be inspired by the performers themselves. The performance took place in a basement bar in Melbourne city, where the audience were free to move about the space. At the completion of the performance the three costumes were put on display so that the audience could experience them as still objects removed from the body.
